Speaking of Home Defense Shotgun Ammo...

Cabela's has cases (10 boxes, 25 shells/box, 250 rds) of Estate 12 gauge 2 3/4" buckshot on sale, in both 00 and #4. I can do almost as well at WallyWorld on the 00 in the Winchester 15 rd. value packs, but I haven't found #4 in anything but 5 rd. packs, so I grabbed one. The price is $149.99/case (and you get a free dry storage box - AKA plastic ammo can - with each case.)

Did I miss something as I think it says the free shipping does not apply to ammo? Is this the case or is there a way to get the free shipping?

Yeah, I missed that caveat on the coupon. Sorry. That's the first time they've done that. I bought mine before the free shipping offer, using a $20 coupon.

FYI, shipping for two cases of 12 gauge to NW Florida was less than $20. Still not too bad.

WARNING to buyers of off brand 12ga shells

Many of the off brand 12ga shells being sold are manufacturered in Europe. While these are sold as standard 12ga shells they are actually slightly longer than U.S. made shells and will turn your 5 round shotgun into a 4 round gun using these shells.

This has to do with the way the shell is crimped and the length of the shell. None of the sellers I've seen bother mentioning this.

And of course: use name brand for defensive loads.

I believe the Estate brand is made in the USA. I've not heard anything about their buckshot loads, but I have heard their birdshot hunting loads are good stuff at a good price.

I hate Cabela's...

Everytime I see a deal in there add, I am not able to take advantage of it and they try to sell me on something else (less of a deal/More money)

Every time its one of two things with them...

1. Great deal on ammo via a mail in Rebate (don't have rebates in, don't know when they get them and will do nothing to help)
2. Have a great sale price listed, but are out of stock. (each store only gets a few and they are not giving rain checks)

You tell the employees and or managers and they just look at you...

At least thats how they are at the St. Louis store...
